Yeah, this ain't accidental
Mrizen is sitting at the table, the Glock RAS and box of bean bags in front of him. For how early it is, the man is alert, and staring intently at the exit that leads to the crew quarters. His dark blue eyes are sad as he watches the door, not really wanting to do this, but feeling like he has no real choice. The Lightfoot occupies his hip holster, the Steyr and Ithaca lean against the table next to him. His duster bulges in several places, a testament to the amount of ammo on the man.
Sujiko makes his way out of the forward hall, scratching at a place on his chin. He pauses as he sees Mrizen at the table looking like he's about to take on an entire army, his brow quirking a bit. "'ey there," he mutters tiredly. "You uh.. you goin' somewheres?" He begins to head toward the galley, but pauses, not yet going for the inevitable coffee.
Ashlyn steps into the common room from the aft hall. Her arms are covered in smears of grease up to the elbows, and tiny knicks and cuts dot her skin. It's likely that whatever she was working on, she's been at it for a long time, and from the look on her face whatever it was does not make her happy. She wipes grime from her hands with a rag that is no longer so much cleaning as it is smearing the dirt around as she comes in, looking around. She frowns when she sees Mrizen, but her eyes pass right over all the things he has laid out about him, not even noticing them. When she speaks, it's directed at Sujiko. "Hey, um," she says, shifting her head slightly toward the engine room. "Gimme a hand with somethin?" It might be clear to anyone paying close enough attention that something is wrong.
There's a paper shuffling noise as Savannha pokes her head out from the darkened lounge at the sound of Sujiko's voice. However her attention goes to Ashlyn as she places the book she had been trying to read for the past few minutes (some boring tomb about five inches thick, one of Sujiko's she bet) on the cushin she was sitting on. "You need something?" She asks, voice directed at Ash, but she's now noticing Mrizen for the first time.
Mrizen nods to Sujiko, and says, "I'm asking to leave the ship, as much as I respect you and Matty, and the rest of the crew, things just ain't workin'. Matty has taken objection to me being helped by Ro." Mrizen gestures to the weaponry and armor, "And, I respect Ro.. he ain't done nothin' wrong to me.. he's helped me out of more then one bad spot." Nodding abit, he says, "I understand your alls need to fly under the radar, and, Ro could help, he's got connections with just about everywhere, but, I'd like to leave without any bad feelings on either side." Smiling just abit he adds, "Ro is startin' a cargo business, I'll put in some good words for you all." Looking over to Ashlyn, he frowns, "Something wrong, Ashlyn," he asks.
Sujiko listens to Mrizen speak, frowning a little as he does. "A'ight," he nods. "Can't say I know nothin' 'bout Ro, but if Matty does, I gotta' trust she knows what she's talkin' 'bout." He pushes off the counter. "So I'd wish ya' th' best o' luck in whatever ya' do, an' thanks fer th' good word," he says, extending a hand for a handshake. He looks to Ashlyn as she speaks, though. "Wha's th' matter, mei-mei?" he asks.
Ashlyn starts when she notices sneaky, sneaky Savannha has been there the whole time. Then again, she hadn't really been looking for her. "Nah," she responds to her as nonchalantly as she can. She listens quietly to Mrizen's explanation as to why he's leaving, but has very little reaction other than to look somewhat stunned at the suddenness of it all. "It's just mechanic stuff," she clarifies to both Savannha and Mrizen, possibly trying to make them lose interest. She does, however, continue to look concerned. "I got somethin' ya should look at," she says to Sujiko, nodding to the engine room again. She seems to suddenly remember that Mrizen is there and she looks back between him and Sujiko. "It can wait a moment," she finishes.
Mrizen takes Sujiko's hand and shakes it, "No problem, you got yourself a good crew, and a good ship, just wish it coulda worked out." Nodding he stands, grabbing his guns, and saying, "The bean bag gun is on the table, ain't gonna take somethin' that ain't mine."
Halfway through Mrizen's speech, Savannha opens her mouth, expecting there to be a small break in it where she could say something, but he continues on. This happens two or three times until she entirely forgets what she was about to say, and ends up just not saying anything. She raises an eyebrow at Sujiko's hasty and unceremonious response...he must be really uncoffeed today..."Ok," She responds simply to Ash, understanding that she couldn't really do too much other then just...sit there and watch, pretending to be interested.
Sujiko's gaze shifts down toward the gun on the table, and then back to Mrizen with an appreciative smile. "Well, 'm sorry it din' work out," he says, taking a step back. "Hope ya' stop by sometimes an' say hi. We'll be 'round," he says with a nod, glancing to Ashlyn again with a look of concern. "I'll be right there," he says. "Need anythin' from yer bunk?" he asks Mrizen. "Ya' got somewheres t' go I take it?"
Ashlyn nods. She offers a brief wave to Mrizen, now finally finding time to look a little struck at his departure. "Yeah, drop by," she agrees, and seems to really mean it in spite of her distraction. She leans on the doorway to the hall and begins to more carefully clean the grease from her hands with her rag.
Savannha is somehow disturbed at how easily everyone seems to be letting Mrizen go so quickly...and so soon and all of a sudden-like...but she never really got to know the man that much anyways and attempts to disappear back into the depths of the Lounge...maybe she'll move in here...cushins = comfy.
Mrizen nods and says, "I'll see about it, I went ahead and sent something into Pearl Enterprises, seems they are wanting to interview me to be a bodyguard for Lady Pearl, that, and I might have an openin' on Daniel Wallace's ship." Looking down as his com beeps, he looks down and says, "Speaking of that ship, seems Daniel wants to talk with me, gotta love my girl, she works fast." Smiling he gives a wave to everyone, "Take care you all."
Sujiko nods to Mrizen. "A'ight then," he says. "I'll let th' rest o' the crew know. Stop by sometime, yeah?" he says, turning now to Ashlyn with a concerned expression. "Whassa' matter?" he asks, shoving his hands in his pockets and glancing toward the aft hall. A worried expression and something he should see, presumably back in the engine room, is never a good sign.
Ashlyn just responds with a quick gesture to the engine room before hurrying down the hall toward it, Mrizen and Savannha completely forgotten. "I been workin' all mornin," she says as she hurries into the room, making a bee-line for a large cardboard box set beside the engine. In the bottom of the cardboard box, should anyone care to look, are the normal things one might be expecting her to throw out: blown fuses, fried wiring, electronics that have simply given out due to general wear and tear. But sitting on top of those are some more suspicious bits of junk. Ashlyn reaches into the box, not wasting any time. She holds out a handful of wires for Sujiko (and Savannha should she chose to follow) to see. The ends have all been neatly cut. "Once maybe might be a accident," she says, dropping them back into the box. The second peace that emerges is a circuit broad that has been smashed in what might be a deliberate manner. "Twice could be coincidence." She drops that one, too, and lifts a length of tubing with a broad slash in it. "Three times..." she falls silent, looking at Sujiko worriedly.
Sujiko follows behind Ashlyn, looking quite nervous and unhappy about what she's showing him. He crouches beside the box, looking through the stuff with a frown, analyzing the damage. "Yeah, this ain't accidental," he says, twisting the tubing to split apart the slash, revealing a very fine, straight knife-like cut. He pulls out his PDA, looking through what appears to be logs from the environment analyzer in the hatchway. "How th' hell'd someone get in here?" he asks. He doesn't want to believe it could have been one of his crew - If nothing else, this crew needs to know they can trust each other and not have accusations flying back and forth between themselves. "How much damage was there?" he asks. "An' how long 'till we can get 'er movin' again?"
Ashlyn shakes her head. "Don't know how much damage," she says. "I just know it would'a been a bad thing if we'd powered her up." She exhales and runs her hands through her hair as she looks down into the box, mindless of the grease still left on her palms. "Can't say as I'll feel all that good about it until I've had a few days goin' over everythin' might'a been messed with." She frowns and looks around the room. "I only been workin' in here since I found it. Can't say if it were the only thing someone got into."
Sujiko sighs, slumping down into a crosslegged position beside the box and leaning against a panel. "Gorrammit," he mutters. He looks again at the circuit board, which appears to be the math co-processor assembly for the gymbal lock compensator on the manuvering thrusters. /That/ is an expensive part. Sujiko rubs his eyes, peering back through the box of ruined parts. "Most o' this get blown out in a power short?" he asks, glancing up at Ash and picking up a particular board that appears to have scorchmarks where the transistors used to be. He sighs, giving an appreciative nod to Ashlyn. "'m glad ya' found it," he says with a deep sigh.
Ashlyn shakes her head dismissive at the ruined pieces below the sabotaged ones. "I been building those up a while now," she says. "Not like they all died at the same time. Just pieces came ta the end of their shelf-life I couldn't do nothin' with." It's clear that she thinks of the legitimately broken bits as entirely unimportant at this juncture. She stands up from where she's crouched by the box and picks up a few tools she's left about the room, returning them to her belt and moving back to the engine where she begins inspecting it again. "Yeah," she agrees. "Glad I found it, too. Wouldn't want ta have been in the engine room if we took off with all these broken bits." She seems significantly more relaxed now that she's informed someone of the problem, but she still frowns as she works.
Sujiko nods to Ashlyn. "A'ight mei-mei," he says. "Don' hurt y'erself get'n us fixed. There's a shipyard ain't but right 'cross th' alleyway, an' we got plenty fer anythin' we need done," he says. "I'ma go grab a bite t' eat, an' I'll be right back t' help ya' out a bit, a'ight?" he says with a smile, standing again and looking around the engine room. "I'll talk t' Matty an' see if she can figure out how th' feller might o' gotten in here," he adds, nodding and stepping back out into the aft hall to head toward the commons.
